Hindu Festival Holi Introduction:
Holy
is the colorful festival of
India youngers, elders and all types of people celebrate this festival cheerfully.
Holy is celebrated on Phalguna Pournami the day before Pournami celebrated as Kamadahanam. This is the death day of Kamudu or
Manmadhudu or Vasantudu and Pournami is reborn day of Manmadhudu. So people enjoy on this day with pouring colors on each other. As per English calendar this festival comes in the month of Feb or March.
How to celebrate Holi:
Days before the festival people start gathering wood for the lighting of the bonfire called kamdahanam at the
major cross roads of the villege or city. This ensures that at the time of the actual celebration a huge pill of wood
is collected.
Then on the eve of holi, holi or kamadahana takes place. The ritual symbolises the victory
of good over evil and also the trimph of a true devotee.
On the day of Holi people poured colours on each other. People use turmeric powder and
gogupulu make colours. They mix turmeric powder and water. They use gulal also. In some places grind the gogu
water and use this as a colour.
There a belief that on this day if they pour turmeric water on loved one, they live together
happing for life long.
History of Holi:
An ancient story had the holy according
puranas of
Hindus. As per this
kamdevudu
was the son of Lord Vishnu. He is the God of Love once he school his love arrow on Brahma. He tried very much
to control his heart, but he didn’t then he ran to lnearby woman, she was his daughter sandhya. After this
Brahma shamed on his conduct and cursed
Manmadha to he will be become ash by Shiva’s third eye,
then kamadeva pleased to forgive him. Brahma forgave him and said that he will reborn when Lord Shiva’s
consort sati committed herself to fire due to disgrace shown by her father Daksha to Shiva, Lord Shiva become
extremely sad. He renounced his worldly duties and went into deep meditation.

History of Lord Manmadha:
Kamadevudu:- Kamadevudu was a son of Lord Vishnu love of God and passion. He known as
Manmadhudu, Kamadevudu and Vasantudu. Manmadhudu measn that of all hearts. He is the God of passion
(Kamam is Sanskrit) os he called Kamadeva. Heis of spring (Vasantam in Telugu). That’s why he known as
Vasantudu.
Kamadevudu is depicted with his bow of sugarcane having the string of a live of humming
bess and arrow shafts are topped with passion that pierce the heart. The diety offered sandalwood paste to cool
off the pain of his fatal burns. Kamadevudu has six types alrows, those are Harshanam, Rochanam, Mohanam,
Shohana and Maranam.

In the eveing people greet each other with sweets.
Drinks, specially thandai laced with bhang is also an intrinsicv part of the Holi festival. Bhang helps to further
enhance the spirit of the occasion but if taken in excess might dampen it also. So caution should be taken while
consuming it.

We have to use echo friendly colours. The chemical colours will damge our skin and eyes.
So we have to use echo friendly colour like trumeric water, gulal and
gogupulu water. These are keep
our skin smooth. Turmeric work as anticeptic and
gogupulu work as moisturiser.
So that use traditional colours and enjoy a rejoice holy.
