History of Maha Shivaratri
Then Lord Shiva created a God of new creation Sri Narayana. Sri Narayana takes birth in that darkness and opened his eyes. He saw everywhere water and darkness. He did not understand what to do. Then Aakashavani orders him to do Japam of Omkara. Then he swa a banyan leaf floating on water. He lay down on that banyan
leaf and doing the Japam of Omkara Banyan leaf is known as Vatapatram in Sanskrit.
So Srinarayana had on another name Vatapatra Sai(it means a god who was lay down on banyan leaf). He went in deep Japam. And he did not know what happening around him. After this a great Lotus comes out from the nava of Sri Narayana. From that great Lotus a God comes out with five heads.
That God name is Brahma. Brahma comes out from that lotus and thought that from where of take birth. Who am I. then he went into that lotus trunk. He travelled a lot distance, but he could not find anything. And he decide to went out of from that lotus to find there day shere another god or man was there or not.
And at the same time Narayana also decided to do the something. The two gods are travelled a lot of distance for many years. After a long time they met to each other. Narayana said. I am the first God I am great Brahma also said I am great. They quarreled. In that time a great Tejolinga took birth between them. First they shocked after discussing they decided to find out the first and last of that
Tejo Linga who finds out that he was winand he was great. God Brahma went up and God Narayana Bottom.
God Narayana travelled a very long distance, but could not find the bottom of that Linga and returned to first place.
Brahma also could not find anything and he also returns. But suddenly he saw a Moghra flower falling down. He stopped the flower and asked that from where are you coming? That flower said that I am on top of the Lingam, but slipped from the top and travelling since thousands of years.
Then Brahma thought that this is impossible for me to see the top of the Linga. So I request this flower to say a false that I saw the top of Linga. Then I will win the bet. And he took that flower and came to first place. He met Narayana and said I saw the top of Linga. This Moghra flower is the Witness for that.
The flower agreed for that and said what is Brahma saying that is true. I was on the top of Linga, he took me from that place and brought.
Then suddenly the Lord Shiva appeared from the Tejo Linga with a lot of angry. He cut the one of face of Brahma with his little finger’s nail. And cursed to Moghra that the flower will miss the quality as puja flower with a false, so the people can’t use this flower for Puja.
Then they requested to Lord Shiva to forgive them. At last Lord Shiva forgive them and booned Moghra to live always on my head.
And ordered to Brahma to created a new world. And said to Narayana that he have to runs that world.
When the Tejo Linga took birth that night was called as Maha Shiva Ratri festival . from that time Hindus Celebrating. That day as Mahashiva Ratri festival. So people do Upavasa all that day, and do Jagarana all night and worship the Lord Shiva at midnight. That Tejolingam is located on earth at Arunachalam in Tamilnadu State of India.
